![]() The touring for Cherry Bomb was kind of disapointing too. It was like he made a bunch of random songs and made a playlist and released it as an album or he just forgot he needed to release something so he quickly threw something together and called it an album. Also, the album didn’t capture a feeling like his previous works had done. Sure some songs like 2Seater, The Brown Stains and Blow My Load have lyrical substance but those are only small instances. This is just a small example of how poorly written the lyrics are and this is a consistent theme throughout the entire album. The lyrics we’re awful on some of the songs like on ‘Cherry Bomb’ Tyler says “All y'all n****s wear camouflage, I'm in a field wearing pink and blue, I wear pink, they can see me”. The distortion that was sprinkled throughout the album was off putting at times and made it hard for the listener to fully comprehend what’s going on. Nothing about this album was consistent, from the lyrics to the mix it was a mess and at times difficult to listen to. But that’s really all that was done well. Let me first say the production on this album is amazing, Tyler dove into many different genres and really showed us how diverse of a producer he is. ![]() This was a huge let down to those who are really focused on numbers, especially after building up tons of momentum over the previous 4 years. ![]() Cherry Bomb out did his first studio album by 13,000 and under performed his Sophomore album by 31,000 and dropped 1 Billboard 200 position. Now, Wolf sold 89,000 first week and peaked at number 3 and Goblin sold 45,000 first week and peaked at number 5 on Billboard 200. Plus, peaking at number 4 for any artist is considered extremely successful unless you’re Drake or DJ Kahled. I know this is a wide ass range but it depends on the artist's popularity. The sales for any artist average anywhere from 50,000 - 500,000. Cherry Bombs first week sales were 58,000 and peaked at number 4 on Bilboards 200. Tyler was showing us his natural progression as an artist while still being authentic to himself.įirst, let's look at the numbers. The lyrical content on Wolf also showed the listener that he’s matured lyrically from his Freshmen release. Wolf had a summer camp vibe with warm sounding drums and simple but beautiful piano chords. The work Tyler did on the OF Tape Vol 2 moved away from those Goblin type of lyrics and gave us beautiful songs like Analog 2 and meaningful lyrics like his verses on Oldie. Sure, Goblin was a bit raunchy and spooky but it fit the Odd Future theme at the time with projects like MellowHype’s BlackenedWhite that was released in 2010 and then re-released in October of 2011. If you disagree, explain to me why you disagree, what do you think I’m not understanding?Ĭherry Bomb was a disapointing Tyler project, especially when you look at every other body of work he’s put out previously. Also, these are my thoughts on the album, I’m not attacking you so DON’T TAKE THIS PERSONALLY. I just don’t think it should be as praised as it’s been on this sub. Let me preface this by saying I don’t hate Cherry Bomb, I defended it when it first came out by saying it was his best work, I went to multiple shows during this era, and bought tons of merch, I’m aware that doesn’t mean much but I’m not sure how else to say I don’t hate it.

The average caller will hang up if a call is not answered after five to six rings. So, as a rule, ensure that your calls are consistently answered. And while appearing overly fatigued might not be an accurate portrayal of who you are, it can adversely contribute to people’s first impression of you, Todorov says.īeing well-rested-putting a solid eight hours in the night before a big event-is one way to present yourself well, he notes. We know it sounds obvious, but you need to answer every call, every time.Failure to answer the phone will dramatically affect your customer service quality. “If you’re really sleep-deprived, you’re not going to do well on any kind of task,” he notes. “The skin is much paler, which is often a signal for sickness you have shadows under the eyes the corners of the mouth are slightly turned downward,” he says.Īnd multiple studies suggest that skimping on shut-eye can lead others to perceive you as less attractive, less smart, more depressed and less healthy. When you’re sleep-deprived, you appear different, Todorov says. For example, making someone feel appreciated, finding a point of commonality to bond over or sharing something interesting you’ve learned can all improve how you’re received, Demarais says. Taking the focus off of yourself and putting it on someone else can help others perceive you in a better light. “People always remember how you made them feel,” she says. But experts say we should pay more attention to those around us. In new situations, we tend to notice how we’re feeling instead of how others are feeling, Demarais points out. You’re likely to find something you both connect with. If you’re operating from a blank slate, start with your shared environment-like commenting on the weather or something you notice in your surroundings, then move to facts-like the reason you’re gathering or a recent news story, says Demarais. “We tend to like people who are a little bit similar to us,” says Zayas. Asking observant questions like, “Does this person have an accent?” or “Is he or she wearing something you recognize?” can help foster an instant connection. ![]() People who have an easy time connecting with others often find common ground with someone else in just a few seconds, says Boothman. You’ll find your attitude and expression will instantly adjust, he says. If you’re nervous, say something silly to yourself before you walk into a room. If you’re having a hard time with the attitude adjustment, try thinking back to a time when you felt enthusiastic or resourceful to get your mind into a better place, Boothman suggests. This will project a warm, open and positive impression. You can create a useful attitude by smiling at someone, making eye contact long enough to notice the color of that person’s eyes, or sitting without crossing your arms or legs, says Boothman. A useless one is acting bored, rude or hostile. A useful attitude is welcoming, curious and enthusiastic. Instead of thinking of attitudes as good or bad, think about them as useful or useless, Boothman suggests. “On a very deep level, if someone is frowning or looks threatening, we register that as ‘Watch out.’” “We sort of scan the world for threats, and facial expressions are really primarily processed,” says Ann Demarais, founder of First Impressions, a New York-based coaching and consulting company. ![]() ![]() Alternatively, if you’re having a bad day, you might appear unapproachable. I have to acknowledge that my response to this work is that of a white boomer male. While not seeing himself as a movement organizer, he hopes to mobilize social media influencers and to promote the work of the Baylor Program for Collaborative Conversation and Race, a research and training center to fill the gap in empirical research in apply mutual accountability models to racial issues. He offers the example of Sean Sheppard, founder and CEO of Game Changer, a California-based organization working with communities and police departments using collaborative conversation and mutual accountability methods. He concludes with a call for a mutual accountability movement in addressing racial issues. Finally, he considers how mutual accountability might work in our lives. In a world under the illusion of human perfectibility, the Bible reminds us of our depravity and the folly of relying on our own intelligence and moral sense. The big “but” is that no significant research has yet been done on the effectiveness of this model in reducing racial bias, although some research from diversity programs suggest that “intergroup contact and cooperative interventions within diversity training efforts have promising potential to reduce prejudice.” He then turns to theological support for his model, noting the examples of resolution of intergroup conflict such as Acts 6. He cites research showing the effectiveness of mutual accountability in fostering agreement and collaboration between parties. Yancey offers empirical support for his model with a qualification. ![]() 46)īefore going on to contend for this model, he addresses the failure of colorblindness to address the reality of institutional discrimination and the failure of antiracism due to its reliance on power and compulsion rather than the moral suasion where former adversaries become convinced allies. It is an approach that take problem-solving rather than venting seriously, following this process:ģ. ![]() By allowing those we disagree with to hold us “accountable” to their interests, we are forced to confront the ways we have fashioned solutions that conform to our own interests and desires."Īctive listening is an essential skill necessary to these collaborative conversations–the listening that seeks to understand rather than to fashion an argumentative response. In this way we fashion solutions to racialized problems that address the needs of individuals across racial groups instead of promoting solutions that are accepted only by certain racial groups. In those communications we strive to listen to those in other racial groups and attempt to account for their interests. "This model stipulates that we work to have healthy interracial communications so that we can solve racial problems. What he proposes instead is a mutual accountability model. They may gain grudging compliance or achieve political victories while fostering ongoing resentments and resistance. ![]() Antiracist approaches often antagonize and alienate the very parties needed to make progress in addressing racial ills, shaming and stigmatizing those they consider the problem. Colorblindness fails to acknowledge the present effects of historic abuses and the systems and structures that sustain discrimination against racial groups. George Yancey, a black sociologist at Baylor University believes neither of these strategies are working, and are actually contributing to deepening divisions. ![]() Antiracism challenges all the systems and structures that maintain this power, demands activism (“you are either an antiracist or a racist”), and that whites must support antiracist efforts of blacks by persuading other whites and pressing for financial restitution for historic abuses. It argues that a majority group inherently seeks to preserve its power and to subordinate others. I do not wish to debate these claims but to cite them as an example of the divergent approaches being used to address the racial fault lines in this country: one being colorblindness, arguing that it is the emphasis on race that exacerbates our divisions, particular the invidious label of “racist.” The other is the “antiracist” strategy, one that is used widely in various forms in diversity training. Another candidate spoke against the ire raised by being called “racist” for concern about people entering the country illegally. One candidate stood at the Edmund Pettus Bridge invoking Dr. I witnessed it in our Ohio senatorial primary. Summary: Proposes as an alternative to colorblind or antiracist approaches, one of collaborative conversation and mutual accountability to overcome racial divisions. ![]() ![]() " World Cup Soccer is one of the greatest pinball tables ever created, and we have long been thinking about creating a modern day version football pinball table that would capture the essence of the game in today's climate, include the biggest clubs and players, and create an exciting level of competition that makes club football so entertaining," Zen Studios vice president of publishing Mel Kirk said in a press statement.Ĭheck out a trailer for Super League Football below.
